Group Prenatal Care
Registered Midwives provide FREE, SAFE, EXPERT care. Midwives are health-care professionals
who provide government-funded expert primary care to pregnant people and their newborns.
Midwives are part of the Ontario health-care system and their services are completely funded by
the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Group Prenatal Care
If you choose to be a part of the prenatal group, you will see your Ob for some appointments and the midwife for some group appointments. Usually, there are 5 group sessions before your baby is born and a final reunion session after you have had your baby.
Group Prenatal Care helps to better prepare new and current parents for dealing with pregnancy, childbirth, and life after the baby is born. Everyone in the group has the opportunity to support each other and share their experiences.
This program does have a long waitlist, so contact us early! Pregnant people are placed in a group of 8-12 individuals with due dates around the same time. You will be able to share information about what you are experiencing and learn from experts.
Each session includes health checks and group discussion and education. This program is part prenatal classes, midwifery care, and birth preparation!
There will be health checks for you and your growing baby. These include:
-
Monitoring your baby’s growth and heart beat
-
Monitoring mom’s blood pressure
-
Monitoring mom’s weight
-
Ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests
-
Prescribing some medications related to your care

If you have additional concerns or need to discuss something with the midwife in private, you can book a one-on-one appointment with the midwife or your Obstetrician.
People in their first pregnancy or with one or more babies, living in Windsor-Essex county are invited to attend.
